Intended for both beginners and advanced participants, this course is about improving your skills, whether you have just started, or you are deeply invested in the medium. The fundamentals of painting will be introduced to help you develop your visual language in the painting medium of your choice. For more advanced painters, this course can help you with more specific challenges related to figuration, composition and vibrancy. There is nothing more helpful than a painter looking at another painter's work, and giving insight.

ABOUT

RITA

Our courses are built around a single belief: that everyone already possesses their own visual language — a distinct line, a personal brushstroke, an instinctive way of solving the problems that drawing and painting put in front of you.

At Rita, the work is to uncover that language, not replace it with someone else's rules.
For beginners, this means starting with creativity rather than convention. Academic frameworks — proportion, composition, representation — are introduced not as prerequisites, but as tools, offered at the precise moment they become useful on the page. For more experienced artists, the focus shifts to deepening what's already there: advanced techniques and mediums in service of a style that is distinctly yours.

Classes are small by design. Feedback is direct and personal. The studio is a working one — and that matters.

Marc-Alexandre Dumoulin — 2021

RITA is an initiative from artist Marc-Alexandre Dumoulin, and the courses take place at his studio. Participants get to improve their skills in a truly artistic environment, with easels, drawing basics, a selection of objects and plants for still lifes, and a bookshelf full of art catalogs to take inspiration from.

Marc-Alexandre Dumoulin (b. 1984), is a Canadian artist, writer and educator specialized in inter-war and post-war Parisian Avant-Garde. He obtained his Masters of Arts from Central Saint-Martins College of Art and Design, London (2008). Recently, he completed his PhD at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna (2023), and has exhibited internationally. Exhibitions include: A Thousand Cuts at 8BR1, Vienna (2025), Pur Bonheur at New Jörg, Vienna (2024), Saturnine Musings at Memphis, Linz (2022) and Über das Neue at Belvedere 21, Vienna (2019) among others.

Courses available in German, English and French.
